I have recently started using colored gels over my strobes in a lot of shots. To hold the gel over the strobe I have been just taping it using blue tape, this left a lot to be desired. So a couple of days ago I fabricated a gel holder that attaches to the flash.
Here is the complete system consisting of the flash, gel holder, and gels from Lee. Shown is the free Lee Sample Pack. The holder also works with the Rosco Gel Sample Pack gels.
Click here for construction details on how to build your own. I now also offer these Gel Holders for sale. Visit GelHolder.com for details.
Have the how to for the gel holder but now need to find out what a heat strip is ~?~?~?~
Thanks for your time EVA
Very cool
BEST design I’ve seen yet DIY or manufactured
thanks
This project is just what I am looking for. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Craig. Rather than gear up to make 2 of the gel holders, how much would you charge to make 2 of them for my sb 800? I can do the velcro, etc. I just need the bent plastic part.
Thanks
I’m charging $9.95 each + shipping
I just saw this after looking all over for a decent filter holder. This is BY FAR the best thing I have seen anywhere on the internet. I had one of the velcro Lumiquest holders but found it such a pain to use. But the cost and effort of building a plastic bender is a royal pain, especially as I can’t imagine using it ever again. Would it be possible to ask you to fabricate one for me? I have a Sony HVL-F58AM, and I think the flash surface is about the same as the nikon SB-900.
Thanks
